The majority of my work involved building e-learning modules for a number of different clients. I would follow a storyboard provided by an Instructional Designer which would provide the content for the module, along with suggestions for images to be used or a design style. Along with this, I created assets for the modules such as illustration and animation.
One client I worked for was the Alzheimer’s Society Ireland (ASI). I greatly enjoyed this module as it had a lot of Illustration work. I had the opportunity to develop my skills further in Illustrator doing something I love. On more illustration based projects like this, I worked a lot with Colette who is the lead brand designer and expert in Illustrator.
During my placement I overcame many challenges which has led to a lot of growth and learning along the way. One of the main challenges was getting used to everything that came with designing for e-learning. Although IXD helped me with software skills and design principles, it was very different to projects I had worked on previously. I also had to adapt to a new program, Storyline 360, very quickly and most of the learning was on the go while I was building modules for clients.
I had the opportunity to work with the HR department to complete some branding work. This involved creating assets for promoting an upcoming job opportunity of a Project Manager. Two of these assets were Aurion branded linkedin posts and the other one was a pamphlet giving an overview of the role. I utilized both illustrator and indesign to create these assets which my IXD experience helped me with.
